🎉 Playbook Launch
First things first, here it is… The link to the long-awaited and much-anticipated labour of love, my New Ways of Working Playbook https://bit.ly/NWOWplaybook. It’s been cooking slowly, seasoned carefully, and I am seriously excited to serve it to you 😋
The New Ways of Working Playbook will help you to explore the patterns found in progressive organisations.
I feel incredibly proud of this free resource. My goal was to create something that would help progressive people, teams and organisations to learn about and crucially practice New Ways of Working. And I’m chuffed to report that the feedback from the Playbook testers and early release event has been fantastic ─ I think you’re going to like it! 🤩
🫣 What’s inside?
Inside, you’ll find some of the key patterns found in progressive organisations. They are broken down into the theory behind the pattern and (the most important bit) how you can practice them with your team. The patterns include:
Meetings - meetings are probably the number one frustration felt by teams the world over, while healthy, participatory meetings are a clear pattern found in progressive organisations. The theory and practices in the New Ways of Working Playbook will help you to ensure that crap meetings are not a feature in your team 🤯
Decision-making - distributed decision-making is another tried and tested pattern found in progressive organisations. Recognising that it makes enormous sense to move control to where the information is, progressive organisations distribute the control that is traditionally hoarded by a few people at the top. The Playbook will guide you through making distributed decisions in your organisation ✨
Feedback - regular feedback is one of the patterns that teams need most, a shortcut to improvement and better collaboration. The New Ways of Working Playbook gives you the theory, models and templates you need to give and receive feedback well ─ because we are all better off if we understand our impact on others 👂
Conflict - whether it’s spoken or unspoken, conflict in the workplace is commonplace and something that really gets in the way of great collaboration. So it’s a great idea to agree a process and to plan for what happens when it inevitably arises. The Playbook will help you to think about a conflict process and upgrade your skills in order to handle conflict with care 🫶
Roles - in progressive organisations, rather than holding a single position with a fixed job description, people tend to hold a range of roles which evolve and change over time. The New Ways of Working Playbook explores this dynamic way of working and how it can benefit your organisation 💼
Agreements - ‘How we do things around here’ contributes to your organisation’s culture and determines your team’s working ‘climate’. Without clear agreements, crucial patterns like the way you communicate in meetings, make decisions, give feedback, have disagreements and distribute roles are left to chance. The Playbook will help you to create and document healthy working agreements for your team and organisation 🤝
There are also resources on further crucial patterns: psychological safety, coaching, mindset, teamwork, and (the all-important) experiments! 🧪 Plus, you’ll find a bunch of inspiring books, tech, and case studies to help you explore the patterns found in progressive organisations.
